It
may be miserable and grey here in Melbourne but this autumn/winter is
all about rich colour. We're breaking away from the traditional
autumnal
hues and shades of grey in favour of more unexpected ones.
Interestingly, in
the aftermath of the past years’ unsteady economy, people were in
search of balance and equilibrium, but now they want fashion to be
more of a 'flight of fancy,' according to Leatrice Eiseman, executive
director of Pantone’s Colour Institute. “The whole theme of this
season is that colour transcends time and place. It takes you in an
entirely different direction be that through art, travel, landscapes
or even retro design. This season is really all about ingenuity,
imagination and artfulness.” So, let's get some colour in our
wardrobes!
The
top six colours are as follows;
- Sangria, a celebratory shade of red that adds some excitement
- Aurora red, shares blue undertones which suggests an element of sophistication
- Radiant orchid, a fusion of purple, fuchsia and pink that flatters a variety of complexions
- Mauve mist, a romantic and elegant shade, hit television show 'Downton Abbey' have said to have revived this colour
- Cypress, variations of green have been strong for several seasons, however cypress is more forestry than most and is expected to be a staple
